Steps to Designing Your Room

Steps to Designing Your Room

There comes a time when you decide that your room needs to be re-vamped. Whether it be because you're outgrowing your old room or you just want to re-decorate. But, the worst part is when you don't know where to begin because you have too many ideas and you want to get it done ASAP. Here are some ways to make that process easier and ensure you get the room that you want!

1) Make A New Room Design Book
- You can purchase a notebook anywhere
- This will allow you to organize your ideas and narrow it down to what you can afford and truly like
- Separate the notebook into 4 sections

2) Find inspirations and write down ideas
- Section 1 , 2, & 3 are for this step
- Organize different sections by theme of your room
For example: If you love the idea of a peaceful vibe you can put this section "Peaceful Vibe" and match any of the ideas related to that in that section

3) Organize furniture and colours
- Pick the colours of the walls
- Pick the furniture and colour type of that furntire
- Pinterest shares a lot of different images for inspirational designs that can be super helpful!

4) Research the cost of the furniture
-Sometimes you fall in love with a piece that you can't replicate. You should choose one because otherwise it becomes too expensive. Design based, pick one that stands out the most!
- You can find replicas of what you like and cut the price in half just by researching the name of the type of furniture and or colour

5) Decide on ONE theme
- Based on research: cost & availability of items, pick your one theme!

6) Budget and Design Your New Room!
- Create a budget you will stick to and purchase the items you  need
- Voila design your home
- It's! Enjoy your new room!

Painting a new room for your child

Painting a New Room for Your Child

It can be very easy to design your own bedroom. You know the colours, you like and know what kind of feel you want for your room, but there are endless possibilities for children! If you don't know the sex of the baby you will be having a challenge and it will be more difficult.

Questions like what are neutral colours and designs would look well for my baby will come up and
here is a quick way to get you into the right direction:

People worry most about colour for gender when the most important factor should be picking a colour that lasts through their high school life. You can save money that way and ensure the room stays up to date and stylish. Picking colours like grey or white can be an obvious choice. Other colours like maroon or dark brown could be great choices.

Another option is speaking with a colour consultant from Painter's Plus but ensure you mention that you're looking for a colour that would be good for your child's room from infancy to end of highchool. It will be easy to narrow it down to the right colour!
